How to calculate the cost of plinth beams for a building?/ Approximate cost calculation of plinth beams.( Part - 1)

Let us now calculate the cost of the plinth beams as shown below.

By approximate method:

Given data:

Room size = 2.5m. × 3.5m.

PB1 size = 0.3m ×  0.38m.

PB2 size = 0.3m ×  0.45m.

Concrete grade M20.

Now, from the drawing,

  Length of PB1

= inner breadth of a room

  =2.5m.

Length of PB2

= [ inner length of room × (2nos.× breadth of PB1)]

= [ 3.5m. × ( 2nos. × 0.3m.)]

= [3.5m. × 0.6m.]

= 4.1m.

Note:

 1. The above-illustrated method is to understand the calculation procedure of plinth beam vol.

👀. What will be the cost of M20 grade concrete ?/How to calculate the cost of concrete having a 1:1.5:3 mix ratio?

The material cost of M20 grade concrete = INR 6065.42/ CUM.

( M20 cost is taken from the above-mentioned article.)

The material cost of plinth beam concrete

= [vol. of concrete in CUM × rate/ CUM]

= [1.677 × 6065.42/-]

INR 10,171.70/-

2. Steel:

Let us consider 1.75% of steel reinforcement to the total vol. of concrete.

The volume of steel reinforcement

= [total vol. of concrete × (percentage vol. of steel)]

= [ 1.667 cum × ( 1.75 ÷ 100 )]

= 0.0291 cum.

The total wt. of steel

= [ density of steel in kg/cum. × vol. of steel in cum.]

= [ 7850 kg/cum. × 0.0291 cum.]

= 229 kgs.

The material cost of steel

= [total wt. in kgs. × steel rate/kg.]

= [229 kg. × 50/-]

= INR 11,450/-

The total material cost

 =  cost of [ concrete + steel]

 = INR[ 10,171/- + 11,450/-]

 = INR 21,621/-

B. Labor cost:

The cost of labor will be 20% to 30% of the total material cost.

Let us consider an average rate of 25% for calculation purpose.

The labor cost of a plinth beam

= [ total material cost × ( percentage cost of labor)]

= [21,621/- × ( 25 ÷ 100 )]

= INR 5405/-

Now, let us find out the total cost of the plinth beam in the table format.

Note:

1.  This article is to understand the approximate cost calculation procedure of the plinth beam. In no way, the cost will be similar to the plinth beam of all sizes.

2. The cost of the plinth beam varies depending upon their size, location, concrete grade, %ge of reinforcement, etc.
