Following are some of the points which should be known before installing aluminum sliding windows.
1. Track:
The no. of tracks in the aluminum sliding window is decided by the dimension of the window opening. If you go for the more no. of tracks, you will get a larger opening area for airflow.
2. Surface coating:
The surface coating over the aluminum frames is made by using two different processes.
a. Powder-coated:
Aluminum frames are painted by an electrostatic process known as powder coating. They are made in different textures like mat colors, glossy colors, grainy finishes, etc.
b. Anodized:
The electrochemical process is used to decorate the aluminum surface. An oxide layer is formed over the aluminum to protect them from external environmental conditions. Anodized frames are available in limited colors.
Anodized frames are costlier than powder-coated ones, & they have harder surfaces.
3. Alternative option:
The other alternative for aluminum sliding windows is UPVC windows. Both aluminum & UPVC windows have their own pros & cons., that you can consider for a better selection.
4. Other fixtures:
You can fix the mosquito mesh to the aluminum frames to ban the entry of insects. Steel mesh is preferred over PVC or other polymer products.
5. Position:
Aluminum frames can be positioned on any part of the window sill. You can flush the frames either to the exterior or interior wall surface. Even setbacks in fewer inches work well for the window installation.
If protection is needed for the window glass & other fixtures, you have to install grills over the exterior wall face.
If you want to hide the grill, aluminum windows should be flipped to the outer side. The exterior flushing makes it difficult to close the window, as the inner grill frame acts as a barrier.
6. Sill finish:
If you want to fix marble or granite Patti over the window sill, the same should be done beforehand. Fixing the aluminum frames by screwing them over the Patti is advisable.
